Beat the Storm is a 15.2+ hand, big barreled Thoroughbred gelding for sale. He is fabulous to ride loves to go up to track and stand and watch the other horses train before he does.
UPDATE: January 2017 – “Stormy” has been donated to Second Stride rescue. No one wanted a one-eyed horse. Too bad. There are no perfect horses out there. We pray that Beat the Storm will find a special person who may know he is not perfect but finds him perfect that person. So disheartening.
November Update: Beat the Storm is in sport horse training and being taught to jump by a 12 year old! Buy him now before his price goes up! He is easy to train and ride. This horse is amature friendly and would make a great Pony Club horse. Call for more information and videos of a kid teaching “Stormy” to jump.
“Stormy” is a super special horse who has overcome losing his eye from glaucoma when he was just a baby. He is broke to the mounting block. You can approach him from either side. He has no spook to him what-so ever. He is very well adjusted for being a one-eyed horse. He will turn his head slightly when galloping so he can see the other horses coming at times. He does not ride with his head to the side only on a slight occasion.
He loves human contact and loves to be brushed and bathed. He quietly loads on a step up and ramp trailer and unloads with the same manners. This horse would do anything you ask him to do. He is a really cool horse and his owner/trainer is in love with him.
“Stormy” is fun to ride he still likes to squeal and play a little and but he is really very easy going. He has a gas pedal when needed, but he is quiet and well behaved and has a nice big free walk. He could do lower level eventing, be a field hunter, lower level dressage competitor or just an all-around fun trail horse. He would be competitive at the lower levels and be perfect for the person who wants a buddy and an all-round horse that can do anything you choose to do. “Stormy” has been an absolute pleasure to be around. He has no vices and legs are blemish free. Someone looking for a lifelong partner will love “Stormy” as much as we do.
We know all his medical history. He is sound, sane and a joy to be around. There is nothing wrong with this horse to prevent him from racing but he just does not want to do it anymore. “Stormy” wants a new career and a new mom. Are you his new partner? He is Bargain Barn priced. Please give us a call so we can tell you how sweet he is.
What is the price of this horse?
Prices are not published because the price can go up or down depending on how the horse is racing. Most horses average $3500 but can be as low as $1000 or up to $5000. We will share the prices when you call. If the horse you call about is not in your budget, we may be able to recommend another horse that is.
What is the Jockey Club name of this horse?
Jockey Club names are not usually listed on the site as the sellers do not want calls from people who have not been screened by us for having the skills to help these horses into new careers. Most horses come with their Jockey Club papers and we will be happy to provide links to their race records and pedigrees when you make the decision to move forward with a purchase. Horses’ whose names are in quotes are not the actual name of the horse. That is the nickname we have listed the horse by.
Where is this horse located?
When we say this is a Prospect Horse, that means the horse is not at our farm in the Atlanta area. Prospect horses are still at the track or owner or trainer’s farm. We can tell you where the horse is when you call. Thoroughbreds move from track to track and to the farm and back. We cannot keep this web site current with so many horses listed and all moving around. That is why we don’t post the location. We are happy to share where the horse is when you call. We may have to make a phone call to find out where the horse is ourselves, but we are happy to share the info with you…if you call.

Lynn’s Vision aka Bubba at his last race – July 5, 2008. He was purchased by Melanie Eberhardt right after this race and brought back to Bits & Bytes Farm the next day. Melanie was riding him just one day later and he was a complete gentleman.
