Big Boned, Gentle Giant, Hunter Type, Easy Keeper
RRP Eligible: Yes
“Guy” is a 16’2 hand 2011 Thoroughbred gelding for sale from his breeder. This guy has been family raised and raced and he is just a gentle giant. On the track, he is very fast but around the barn… the only thing he moves fast to… is his feed tub. He is an absolute joy to handle and ride. He does not have a care in the world and would be a fabulous hunter under saddle or equation derby horse. He is very very laid back with tons of personality. “Guy” and is ready to be your upper-level show horse. He looks the type be in in the hunter ring or the equation ring. He is quiet enough to be a field hunter and good looking enough to be a “Masters Horse”. This “Guy” has got it — he is the complete package.
When we sell a horse, we get the full history. We want you to do a pre-purchase on any horse we offer for sale. “Guy’s” contacts bred and raised him so we have detailed information that might not even show up on a vet check done today. He had a small chip removed from his left knee as a three-year-old. Since that time he has raced 18 times with no issues on it. “Guy” is sound and has been racing in Iowa and Nebraska. His contacts have moved to Kentucky and he is just not competitive in the Kentucky/Ohio circuit. We disclose everything with our horses so there are no surprises when you vet them out — or worse, get them home. The knee surgery should never bother him and he could be suitable for a jumping career but is quiet enough for a pleasure rider too. An x-ray will confirm this. We would love to see him win a hunter derby or equation final. This is a horse with a good brain and a lot of body. He is a big boned, big bodied guy who is an easy keeper. He is a hunk of burnin’ love with a great personality.
UPDATE August 2017: Congratulations to Melissa Hopkins on the purchase of her third horse from Bits & Bytes Farm! Melissa purchased Leaderboard from us in 2008 and in 2013 she purchased Artic Point.

We carefully select the horses we sell and we work hard to make a perfect match. If you don’t call, we cannot help you. We are not a rescue and our horses are not ‘rescue priced’. Most horses are between $2500 and $4500 – some higher and some lower. Call and we can talk more our horses and let us help you find the perfect match. We take the gamble out of getting a Thoroughbred off-the-track. Learn more about how our Track Prospect Horses are priced on the main Bits & Bytes Farm website.

What is the price of this horse?
Prices are not published because the price can go up or down depending on how the horse is racing. Most horses average $3500 but can be as low as $1000 or up to $5000. We will share the prices when you call. If the horse you call about is not in your budget, we may be able to recommend another horse that is.
What is the Jockey Club name of this horse?
Jockey Club names are not usually listed on the site as the sellers do not want calls from people who have not been screened by us for having the skills to help these horses into new careers. Most horses come with their Jockey Club papers and we will be happy to provide links to their race records and pedigrees when you make the decision to move forward with a purchase. Horses’ whose names are in quotes are not the actual name of the horse. That is the nickname we have listed the horse by.
Where is this horse located?
When we say this is a Prospect Horse, that means the horse is not at our farm in the Atlanta area. Prospect horses are still at the track or owner or trainer’s farm. We can tell you where the horse is when you call. Thoroughbreds move from track to track and to the farm and back. We cannot keep this web site current with so many horses listed and all moving around. That is why we don’t post the location. We are happy to share where the horse is when you call. We may have to make a phone call to find out where the horse is ourselves, but we are happy to share the info with you…if you call.
