Marbone aka “Boner” is a 3 yr old, 16 hh Thoroughbred gelding who is a seriously athletic horse who wants a new career outside of the racing world. He was purchased as a yearling by his owner/trainer but he has no desire to run. Bad for his owner but good for you!
“Boner” is built uphill at the moment and his backend needs to catch up with his front end. Young horses grow uneven until they are about 4 or 5 years old. he has a trot to die for and is very easy to handle. Boner gallops with his head rounded to his chest. He would benefit from hill work to build up his back end as he continues to grow. We really feel this guy could excel at upper-level dressage with the right person. He would also do well in eventing with the scores he will get in dressage.
UPDATE September 2018: Marbone has been sold to Alisha Charles of Prodigy Stables in Canton, GA. He will be right down the road from Bits & Bytes Farm so we will be sure to post photos of his training. We are excited that this really cool horse will be nearby and can join us for training.
His only blemish is that he was pinfired very early in his 2-year-old year. It was an amazing job and you might not notice it if it were not pointed out to you. We disclose everything possible about the horses we sell. Other sellers may not know the history of the horses they are selling and they may not put a stick on them to get an accurate measurement. We do. We want our buyers to have confidence in purchasing a horse through Bits & Bytes Farm. We sell quality, not quantity.
This horse has one of the best trots of any Thoroughbreds we have sold in a while. He is free and fluid and correct moving from his shoulders. With the right person, he should go far in the show world. He loads on a trailer and stands great for the farrier. He is one special guy and his pictures do not do him justice at all. Check out his pedigree. He has great breeding including two Triple Crown winners: Unbridled Song, Unbridled, A.P. Indy, Quite American, Fabbiano, Seattle Slew, Alydar, Dr. Fager, Intentionally, In Reality, Caro, Nearctic, Secretariat, Raise A Native. He is located in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Please call for pricing. The price can go up or down depending on owner. We always check with the owner when someone is a serious buyer. Many times the price goes down to a really good home. We do not own these horses so we cannot control the pricing. We carefully select the horses we sell and we work hard to make a perfect match. If you don’t call, we cannot help you. We are not a rescue and our horses are not ‘rescue priced’. Most horses are between $2500 and $4500 – some higher and some lower. Call and we can talk more our horses and let us help you find the perfect match. We take the gamble out of getting a Thoroughbred off-the-track. What is the price of this horse?
Prices are not published because the price can go up or down depending on how the horse is racing. Most horses average $3500 but can be as low as $1000 or up to $5000. We will share the prices when you call. If the horse you call about is not in your budget, we may be able to recommend another horse that is.
What is the Jockey Club name of this horse?
Jockey Club names are not usually listed on the site as the sellers do not want calls from people who have not been screened by us for having the skills to help these horses into new careers. Most horses come with their Jockey Club papers and we will be happy to provide links to their race records and pedigrees when you make the decision to move forward with a purchase. Horses’ whose names are in quotes are not the actual name of the horse. That is the nickname we have listed the horse by.
Where is this horse located?
When we say this is a Prospect Horse, that means the horse is not at our farm in the Atlanta area. Prospect horses are still at the track or owner or trainer’s farm. We can tell you where the horse is when you call. Thoroughbreds move from track to track and to the farm and back. We cannot keep this web site current with so many horses listed and all moving around. That is why we don’t post the location. We are happy to share where the horse is when you call. We may have to make a phone call to find out where the horse is ourselves, but we are happy to share the info with you…if you call.
